We often feel that what we are taught in the classrooms have little applications in the real world. I mean think about it, where would you apply Y = mX + C? But, Niloy believes that it’s our pedagogical limitation that we often don’t teach the students how the theory applies in the real world (with examples, of course!).
It’s a common problem in South-East Asia and in many parts of the world that higher education fields follow books that are written by Western professors. Now this is not the main problem, the problem is that the examples do not necessarily align with the context of cultural differences. A strategy that was successful in the United States may miserably fail in India due to differences in consumption pattern, cultural values, and demography. As a result, students of these two different geographies often cannot connect how the theories are being applied in the real world what they can see and understand from their surroundings. To address this gap, AC Niloy was invited by Prof. Dr. Jashim Uddin to take an expert session as a Management Consultant on how the theories of Strategic Management are applied in the field of Business Consulting.
Though the 2 hour long session, Niloy shared how theories connect with real world. He explained some case-studies that he faced in the real world and how those cases were resolved applying the knowledge of Strategic Management. Niloy also emphasized on the use of Analytical Tools and Software and how certain analytics is used in management decision making.
Over 100 undergraduate business school students participated in the session. Monira, a BBA student majoring in Finance & Marketing, shared that:
